Project Partners

The City and County of Broomfield has committed $13 million to move Butterfly Pavilion to the Baseline Development. Working in partnership with other scientific and technology organizations and businesses, Butterfly Pavilion will anchor this “Science City” that will connect educational institutions, businesses and students with groundbreaking research, conservation and education.

Adams 12 Five Star Schools and mindSpark Learning are developing a K-12 STEM school where students will work closely with Butterfly Pavilion scientists to explore scientific methodology and face head-on environmental, ecological and biological challenges that will shape the future health of our planet.

McWhinney has donated 3.5 acres for Butterfly Pavilion’s new home and is working to create an unprecedented multi-use development combining science, environmental conservation, education and commercial development within 1,200 acres of pollinator-friendly habitat and programmed development, ushering in a new model for community development and landscapes.

Broomfield Open Space Foundation will host a nature center and onsite programming at the new facility to raise awareness of existing and long-term conservation-based efforts in the City and County of Broomfield.

Children’s Hospital Colorado’s north campus will be located near the new Butterfly Pavilion. They will work to create healthy play, nature therapy and treatment opportunities in partnership with Butterfly Pavilion.

Colorado State University will connect students and national and international scientists with our unique resources to advance global invertebrate conservation.

Association of Zoos & Aquariums is a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of zoos and aquariums in the areas of conservation, education, science, and recreation. AZA-accredited zoos and aquariums meet the highest standards in animal care and welfare and provide a fun, safe, and educational family experience. Butterfly Pavilion was first AZA-accredited in 2014 and continues the re-accreditation process every 5 years. We have designed every aspect of our new building to align with the best-practices for animal welfare, care and management.
